Why do hundreds of millions of dollars in taxpayers money go to prohibiting pot, while organized gangs make billions of dollars in tax free profits from selling it?

It is time that government privatizes pot and let a cannabis tax pay for policing and prevention programs and to help cut the federal deficit.

It is time that government puts gangs out of business by letting licensed private establishments such as cold beer and wine stores sell small, personal amounts of pot. A cannabis tax is estimated to bring in over a billion dollars in tax revenue and save hundreds of millions of dollars a year in enforcement costs.
